Assignment No. 4

      Basic MIDI Sequence

Using the MIDI Workstation (Centris 650 w/Korg T3) create a MIDI sequence. The sequence must have at least four parts and be a minimum of 16 bars long. A chorale is an excellent choice if you're not inspired to attempt an original composition.

Open Performer on the lab Macintosh. This application is available in the "Apple Menu." As demonstrated in class, you may select a two bar count down prior to the sequence recording. Make sure that the record enable button is selected prior to recording each track. Also remember to disable the record enable button on a finished track before you record again; the software will allow you to record over a good take. Make sure that T3-1 is selected for each of the four tracks in your sequence in order for it to play back on the Korg T3, Channel 1 (which is the MIDI base channel default for the T3).

Should you wish to have different instruments for each track of your sequence you can create a "combination" on the T3. This advanced option will be discussed in class.

Make sure that you save your sequence as "normal" on your floppy disk. This way you can move to one of the networked computers in the CAMIL and FTP your work to complete your assignment.

Your completed assignment must be FTPed to me before the start of class on Monday, March 24, 1997. Using "Fetch" address your assignment to:

      bach.music.ufl.edu/bach/MUS1500

The user name and password was given in class for Assignment No. 3. Your assignment should be named as follows:

      your_last_name.midi
